Running

Thanks for stopping by!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Brittany Salmon. I am a newlywed as of Sept. 18, 2010, a mama of twins as of 2012, and a runner.

Why do I run? It’s a question I get asked frequently. And to be honest, my answer has changed over the past few years and will probably continue to change as I change and grow.

I started “hardcore” running when I found out that I could raise money for Samaritan’s Purse through running. I was perusing through SP’s website and came across TEAM Samaritan’s Purse and immediately wanted to sign up but felt the weight of doubt creeping through my mind. Could I physically run 26.2 miles? Do I have time for this? Do I have to wear spandex? All very important questions that I had to sift through before making a decision. Yet regardless of my hesitations, I knew that it was something that I had to do.

People run for a lot of different reasons: personal health, to raise money for cancer awareness, personal hobbies, etc. Why not run for an organization that is spreading the Gospel in a very clear and tangible way? Samaritan’s Purse is serving the poor and the oppressed in some of the most difficult places in the world. They meet communities’ physical needs while sharing the love of Jesus Christ. This is something I will run for.

So that’s why I started running. I started running because right now it is the least I can do for my brothers and sisters overseas who have very real life or death needs. I ran to bring awareness to causes and to Christ. It just so happens that Samaritan’s Purse’s causes are directly correlated to the work of Jesus Christ. Now, I run because I caught the bug. At first I thought this whole running thing would be a phase, but it seems as if it has stuck with me. 2 marathons with Team SP, multiple halfs, a lot of little races here and there, I’m still running.

If you’d like to join the team and start running for a cause today, head on over to Team Samaritan’s Purse to get started! It really is an amazing organization to get connected to.

We’ll see how running goes as I figure out how to stay alive during motherhood ;), but you can keep up with my running journey and a myriad of other things in my life on this blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
