Items for Adding Anna

Last week during staycation I also got some sewing time so I made some items for Adding Anna Carson! Fun little goodies to bring baby girl home! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve really enjoyed learning to sew these past few months. It’s been a fun thing to mess with when I have some free time.

Anyways, If you’re interested in these items or would like to participate in bringing Anna Carson home to the Dempsey family you can contact Marisa on facebook.

Much love! – B

Adding Anna Carson

Over the next few weeks you’re going to hear me talk about Adding Anna Carson so I figured I should go ahead and introduce you to her now. ๐Ÿ™‚ The sooner the better right?

My bride doula and a fav birthing doula, Marisa Dempsey, is adding to their already wonderful family. Seriously, the Dempsey family is ridiculous in the best of ways and I’m thrilled that they want to add a baby girl to their family through adoption! Honestly, I can’t think of a better family to adopt. They’re amazing people who are not only solid, but they’re probably some of the most crazy fun folks I know.

If you know me, you know that adoption holds a special place in my heart so I’m THRILLED to support Adding Anna Carson as MUCH as possible. Soooo, as soon as I saw that Marissa was selling homemade goods to raise funds for the adoption, me and my sewing machine were ready to jump on board. And you know what that means…

A trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics!!!! (yes yes yes yes YES!)

So after work last night, I took the long way home and stopped by Jo-Ann’s. I’m ashamed to post a pic of all the pretty fabrics I bought… but you’ll see them soon enough in sewing projects for Anna Carson. I did happen to buy some interfacing (finally), pretty satin, and a zipper so I could finish I purse I’ve been working on… AND… VOILA!

It’s a purse!!! An actual purse! That holds stuff (like my 50 lip glosses). With pretty lining and a zip pocket! Needless to say, I am pretty excited about it and I may or may not have run around my apartment modeling my purse for the Mister.

It was a really fun project because it was my first try at bags, so I made thousands a few mistakes, had to take seams out, re-sew on a few items, did things backwards… but still… at the end of the day… a purse was born.

Anyways… after I get those nursing covers and a few baby blankets made for Adding Anna Carson, I’m thinking about playing in the bag world. We’ll see!

Happy Wednesday to you all!

ps. Yes I also purchased one of these at 40% off at Jo-Ann’s so I could finally organize all of my sewing tools that have been in a plastic grocery bag these past few months. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sew baby sew…

Ok – so my latest hobby has been sewing and I have to say… I LOVE IT. Who knew that after all these years I’ve been suppressing a serious domestic/crafty side?!

Here is where I get my craft on:

Ben & I are living in an apartment so I don’t have a sewing room, but that’s ok bc I like watching tv with Ben while I sew… although I’m not quite sure he enjoys the additional noise. ๐Ÿ™‚ hehehe.ย  (after taking these photos I realized that I’ve had empty frames all over our apartment since SEPTEMBER – AHG!!! I fixed that asap).

Anyways, here are a few of my burpcloths that I’ve been working on for friends/family:

And I’ve been working on some CUTE onesies as well. I don’t have a picture of the pink one I made Jill, but here’s a cute boy one I made for Marie’s baby boy, Jacob:

Next Project: Feeding covers… we’ll see how that goes!

The Civil Wars & Happy Baby

Only a few random things today yall.

1.) No, I’m not preggers – yes, I knew that the title might getchya.

2.) Yall… My world has been rocked this week. I kid you not… I’ve found this band The Civil Wars and I can’t get enough.

Seriously, I heard them… I downloaded their CD… and I can NOT stop listening to them.

Seriously. Listen to them. Love them.

3.) Happy Baby… I don’t know what’s happened in the last few months, but evidently I’m getting in touch with ย my long lost, completely buried, creative side. I may or may not have been yelling at Ben the other night, “Martha Stewart eat your heart out!” and other various crafty trash talk.

I’m in the middle of constructing a fun little banner for a Couple’s Cookout/Baby Shower we’re having for a few of our pregnant friends. I still have to add ribbon/string to hang it and attach the letters to the squares, but it’s a start. Wanted to give you a little sneak peak…

Ok I think that’s all for now… Oh… and Happy Thursday (Friday’s a comin’!)

Random Thought Tuesday

Ok folks… so I know that technically, people who are good at writing blogs say that you should have a theme/topic and stick to it. BUT… I’m not trying to be a famous blogger. I’m just trying to share tidbits of my life along with my random thoughts on current topics. So if you’re wondering why i don’t follow that blogging rule, SORRY – not going to happen. ๐Ÿ™‚

So in true form, today is going to be random… if you can’t handle it, just scroll to the bottom, see the pretty burp cloths I made and then peace out.

Last night was AMAZING. I came home, skipped my run (ooops), & surprised Ben by having dinner ready for him when he got home. Then we did laundry together while listening to a few of my lectures for my online class (thank heavens I’m able to take online classes and multi-task). AND then, I watched my favorite guilty pleasure tv show and sewed the final burp cloth for the set for my sweet baby nephew (10 pts. for the person who guesses what my guilty pleasure show is!).

Seriously… it was a wonderful night. And look at these pretty burp cloths.

When I was single, my favorite nights were ones full of crazy fun activities. Days like this past Saturday (holler LION KING at the DPAC) would’ve been my favorite. And although I thoroughly LOVE those evenings, I’ve decided my favorite nights now are the most ordinary. The nights when we just eat, chill, do laundry, and just spend time together are my fav.

Anyways… I think I’ve got burp cloths down now. I have 2 more sets to make and then I might try a baby throw. Yay for having so many friends & fam that are preggers!

So, I don’t know if you remember my NYR’s. No worries, I don’t expect you to, ha, I barely remember them myself. But one of them, #3 to be precise, was to learn how to sew well. ย Well I’ve put the machine to use… I attempted to make a pillow prior to my turkey trip and that was disastrous. Seriously awful. I don’t know if it’s even recognizable. But, I jumped back on the horse when I got back and made my first burp clothe. Thankfully, it is somewhat presentable. I’m doing sets of three and this is the 1st one of a set I’m making for my sister-in-law. I thought I’d show you pics of the front and back. I took these with my phone… so don’t judge. I’m just so excited I wanted to share them with yall!

Also to update you on my training for my marathon (also a NYR), I’m jumping back on the saddle. Turkey was a slight hiccup, as was the month of December… Ooops. So I’ve been trying to put the miles back on my legs in light of my previous laziness. So far it’s been going good. I ran on Fri., Sat., & Mon. and thus far haven’t felt too out of commission. The test will be this saturday… I’m going to shoot for a longer run. We’ll see how far I actually get. I’ll keep you updated, and as always, if you feel like giving to the cause check this site out.

Much love to you all!
